The coming together of a community of people to pray in the presence of their Lord and to receive Him physically and spiritually into their lives is the heart of any Catholic parish. In the celebration of the Eucharist, the bread and wine in the hands of the priest become the body and blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Frequent, intentional, and mindful reception of the Eucharist, which St. Thomas Aquinas called "the Sacrament of sacraments," brings the Christian people into direct contact with their God. It is the highest form of prayer in the Church, and truly is an act of communion, that is, a coming together of God and His people, and with one another, our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Children are generally prepared to receive their first Holy Communion when they reach the second grade. They are prepared through a special program and must already be attending religious education classes or attending Catholic grade school. Older children may be prepared separately from the second graders. The preparation program for First Eucharist will begin in January 2023. Information will be mailed to eligible children in December.
Adults who wish to be initiated into the sacrament of Holy Communion should contact the Airryn Sorto.
If you or a loved one are unable to attend Mass but would still like to receive the Eucharist, our pastoral visitors' ministry would be happy to help. If you are at home, the hospital or another medical facility, our team of Pastoral Visitors will be sure to bring you communion.
